St. Lucia Snuggly Saints Doll
St. Lucia Snuggly Saints Doll
As a young lady living in Sicily, St. Lucia gave away all her possessions to the poor and vowed to live for only Christ. She is also known for bringing armfulls of bread to Christians hiding in the catacombs. While she did this, she lit the way wearing her famous headdress of leaves and candles. One of her suitors told the governor about her faith, since at the time it was against the law to be a Christian. She was tortured and eventually killed. In this way, she fulfilled her desire to become a bride of Christ.
St. Lucia is widely venerated in the country of Sweden. After her death, St. Lucia came to the aid of the people of Sweden during a terrible famine. In the dark of night, she rode into the port with a ship full of wheat to distribute to the Swedish people to provide relief for them.
She is commemorated on Dec 13 (NC) or 26 (OC).
