St. Elizabeth the New Martyr Snuggly Saints Doll
St. Elizabeth the New Martyr Snuggly Saints Doll
St. Elizabeth is known as “Grand Duchess Elizabeth” because she married Grand Duke Sergius, the governor of Moscow, Russia. She was very passionate about helping the poor and underprivileged. Her husband was tragically killed by a bomb, only a few years after their marriage, leaving St. Elizabeth to grieve and wonder at what her life would become. She decided to intensify her efforts to help others and eventually formed her own convent. She built the convent with a focus on helping others through healthcare. There was a very active hospital on the campus where St. Elizabeth and her nuns could help tend to the ill and injured people of Russia.
She was martyred at the hands of the Bolsheviks, who threw her down a mineshaft with her sister in Christ, St. Barbara. They are remembered together on July 18.
