St. Ephrem Snuggly Saints Doll
St. Ephrem Snuggly Saints Doll
St. Ephrem is a special saint to Orthodox Christians because of his prayer which we use during the Lenten season: “O Lord and Master of My Life…” This prayer can be seen on the scroll which the doll holds. This doll is a wonderful reminder of repentance during this lenten season. These dolls are approximately 10” tall (larger size) and the smaller ones are approximately 6” tall, made with organic cotton fabric and fluffy stuffing. This is a simple sewing project for a beginner, or a quick project for someone comfortable with sewing machine basics.
Options available are:
-Fabric only. With this option you will receive the printed fabric to make one 10” or 6” doll, along with instructions. Just FYI— you will need 3 oz of stuffing to stuff a large doll and 1 oz to stuff a small doll.
-Doll kit. With this option you will receive the fabric, instructions, plus the right amount of stuffing for one doll, and a needle and thread. Everything you need to make the doll (except scissors!).
-Finished dolls that are sewn by Orthodox seamstresses in the US. Limited quantity available.
This design is a Draw Near Designs exclusive.
ABOUT ST. EPHREM:
As a youth, St. Ephrem was known for his quick temper and mischievous ways. One day, St. Ephrem heard a voice in a dream tell him that he should repent of his ways. This inspired him to seek out the Christian hermits living in the mountains nearby.
He dedicated his time as a monk to repentance, humility, and prayer. He wrote many prayers, including the prayer you see on this doll! St. Eprem had a great gift for words because he also composed several hymns for the feasts of the Nativity, Baptism, and Resurrection of Christ!
We are so blessed to have so many of the works of this caring, humble man, especially since he lived around the year 300 AD! St. Ephrem lived in modern day Turkey.
St. Ephrem is commemorated on Jan 28 (NC) or Feb 10 (OC). He is especially remembered during the season of Lent because of his prayer of repentance: “O Lord and Master of My Life…” This prayer can be seen on the scroll which the doll holds.
